• Occupancy inspections of business facilities in conjunction with the issuance of City Business Licenses.
• Plan checking for new structures, additions, and tenant improvements, remodeling, and other proposed construction work.
• Permit Issuance for proposed construction work.
• Record keeping of plans & permits of work performed on private property and reporting such work to County and State agencies.
• Inspection of work permitted for construction.
• Providing guidance for the planning, design & inspection process involving the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
• Inspection of residential dwellings that are "for sale" under the City's Residential Pre-Sale Inspection Program.
• Issuing permits for the 4th of July "Fireworks Stands".
• Assist the City's Code Enforcement Division on matters involving Building & Safety Codes.

Responsibilities

The Housing and Community Development Division is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program. These programs are funded by the U.S. Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). They aim to address the priority needs of low and moderate-income households through community development, economic development, housing, and public services.
