Huntington Park’s newest jewel – the Honorable Kevin de Léon Campo de Fútbol at Salt Lake Park – officially opened following a grand opening celebration on September 6, 2014. More than 400 residents celebrated the opening of the field, named after the new Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Kevin de Léon, in recognition of his key role in securing funding for the $900,000 project. The field was funded by generous contributions from the Vernon Community Fund, LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina, and the US Soccer Foundation.
Located in the heart of Salt Lake Park, the soccer field features state-of-the-art synthetic turf to allow for year-round play. In addition to the regulation-sized field, the field is striped to accommodate two smaller-sized fields for youth or 7-on-7 matches.
